Malvern Star has designed two custom Tour de Cure bikes with exclusive Tour de Cure decals which have been donated for the ride. The bikes are to be ridden by Channel 7’s Mark Beretta and another member of the Sunrise team. At the end of the tour the bikes will be auctioned off and the proceeds will be donated to help reach the target of $1,000,000 to help find a cure for cancer!
Tour de Cure commenced their inaugural ride in 2007 and since the registered charity has raised over $2 million in the fight against cancer.
90 riders will head off from Sydney on route to the Sunshine Coast for this year’s Tour. The 10 day tour covers 1,400kms of some of the prettiest and most dangerous roads in Australia.
Channel 7's Mark Beretta will be anchoring for Tour de Cure from 7th May to 16th May. Berretta is nervous about the challenge ahead and says "It'll be really tough for me. Riding is a great love of mine, but these distances are daunting! But in the bigger scheme of life, it's a tiny bit of suffering to do my bit to help find a cure for cancer. I'll happily take that challenge!"
